It was a good week, very mellow in terms of events. Among other trainings we went back to the Elementary School in Amealco where I worked with third graders again. There was a notable uptick in the number of birthdays this week with at least 4 people I know having celebrated turning the page on full year of life. For that reason, it’s only fitting that I share here Las Mañanitas which is a traditional Latin American birthday song. Here it is as performed by Mexican Music legend Vincente Fernandez.
There were two birthdays in Peace Corps on Tuesday, I played them the opening of Las Mañanitas on my guitar.
It was also the birthday of my wonderful mother. ¡Te quiero muchísimo mamá!
Then on Saturday night we celebrated the birthday of Mischell, the friend and roommate of another Peace Corps volunteer. As group of half PCVs and half local residents, 10 of us went out dancing and then got tacos!
As I’m writing this on Sunday at 10:36am, I am getting prepared to go for a hike and then get ready for the rest of the week to make sure that next week is as great as this week was! Thanks so much for reading! Hasta a próxima.
