Here's some of the work I did early at my site. The big picture is of me helping build a road one day. The small images from left to right: Chava, my homestay brother and boss putting up a camera trap to monitor deer populations, then it's him and I de husking corn which would be feed to the chickens while the stems and husks would be given to the horses.

Body building - I did a body building show my first weekend at site! I worked really hard to get shredded and I ended up getting second place in my category of beginners. I stayed at my first homestay family's house for a couple of nights in the city to do it. Over all it was a difficult experience and I would say it was worth my efforts, but it will be a while before I do that again while here in Mexico.

University students visited - Some students from The Universidad Tecnológica de Querétaro visited us as a class activity. They were part of an agriculture class and they hosted this trip as a way to increase nature appreciation. The images are of them hiking to the cabins they stayed at by this dam and the cook-out and hang out they did when they arrived. Also, I took a picture of the torta or Mexican sandwich that my host Mom made for me because I thought it was funny how she spelled my name!

Thanksgiving - I had two Thanksgiving parties, the first was with the Peace Corps in Querétaro City, those are the last two pictures. We ate delicious Mexican food and pie, it was a nice night! Fun fact, pie in Spanish is spelled pay but pronounced the same. For Spanish speakers pie pronounced pee-eh means foot!

The second party was with my homestay family. We invited all of the homestay family's daughters and the son. Everyone made one typical Thanksgiving dish that I gave to them. We had sweet potato, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry salsa, pumpkin and lemon pay, and a pre-made turkey. It was a great event! Everyone liked the food a lot, but it all ran out pretty quickly. In the next fiesta, we will double of even triple the food! It was a great way to share American culture with my host family.

¡Gracias por leer! Hasta la próxima.
